The kids and I just finished reading the last four chapters of Judges, the book of Ruth, and then the first three chapters of 1 Samuel to help finish the race. But then it would not let me submit the miles and I realized we finished the race!! How exciting!! I will save the chapters and will log them on our new race. Congratulations everyone!!! “'My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn[a] is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance. “There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. “Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed. “The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength. Those who were full hire themselves out for food, but those who were hungry are hungry no more. She who was barren has borne seven children, but she who has had many sons pines away. “The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up. The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. “For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; on them he has set the world. He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness. “It is not by strength that one prevails; those who oppose the Lord will be broken. The Most High will thunder from heaven; the Lord will judge the ends of the earth. “He will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.”' - 1 Samuel 2:1b-10

One more little note of encouragement...A friend once reminded about what happened to Lot's wife when she looked back. She turned into a pillar of salt. The same is sometimes true for us when we look back over our lives instead of looking forward. When we do that, we can be rendered useless for what God has planned for us today. I love the hymn,"Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus." The chorus goes like this: "Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will go strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace." :) Just a note of encouragement for us to continue to "Set our minds on those things which are above, not on the things of this earth." Colossians 3:2 Even though we're going reach St. Louis soon, we are still on a journey to our real home in Heaven so let's stay focused on Him and in His Word every day. May the Lord bless each one of you and encourage your hearts! :)

It's been wonderful running this race with all of you. Thanks Steve for bringing us together and for encouraging our hearts in this way. God's Word is the BEST book of all; a lovely gift from the Lord and our guidebook for life! I'd love to meet the rest of you in person and I know we will one day in Heaven, but in the meantime, would anyone like to meet and share a picnic lunch underneath the St. Louis arch later on today? Wish we lived close enough to do that. :)
I can't wait to meet you all someday in Heaven! It is going to be so wonderful. <3

Thank you for highlighting this proverb. This one caught me up short & it is good to have the reminder. God's word reminds us that we go on but by His grace. David's example in 2 Samuel 1 rings forth.

Proverbs 23:29-32 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. BeckyB wrote that she read Psalm 23 today; it's truly a favorite of mine. Always has been, but it became even more precious when our sons Matthew & Seth died and then when my Mom & Dad went Home to be with the Lord. My Mom pointed out verse 4 to me once..."Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me!" Then she asked me..."So, what do you need to have a shadow?" A light source, right? We have the Light of the World, Jesus, with us all of the time! So, we should "fear no evil." Precious thoughts, eh? :) He is so loving and kind and faithful. He always keeps His promises. Verse 6 is wonderful too..."Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever!" We are currently on a journey "home" to St. Louis, but we won't reach our real Home until we get to Heaven! "What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory!" :)
Ps 23 is very special for me too. The day my sister died that was the first scripture that came to mind. Never thought about the light source and shadow - that is precious!

I came across this verse that was really encouraging... Isaiah 43:1-3 1 But now, O Jacob, listen to the LORD who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. 2 When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. 3 For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom; I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place. NLT

Looking for 100 people to read at least 100 chapters of the Bible during the month of January.

Our goal is for each team member to read every day for the 31 days of January.

1 chapter= 1 mile on this virtual route to Jerusalem!
