      I'm still logging in laps since I don't own a fitbit. Jordan Lake Open Swim was great in early May. I hope many of you will join me on July 22, when the water and weather are warmer!

      Keep up the good work and keep on swimming! The Challenge is alive and kicking...and stroking...and going strong! Almost a third have made it to the end, but the majority of us are still out splashing.

      I thought at the beginning it was said that we can take as long as needed to finish, and did not see any information on an ending date. Will the record keeping stop now?

      Hey Everyone! Edison Johnson Aquatic Center is holding an Eno River Swim Challenge wrap up party this Saturday April 2 from 4 p.m. - 6p.m.. The event is potluck so bring a dish and get to know your fellow competitors! Hope to see you there!

      I can't swim for 4-6 weeks due to an injury. Is there a way to drop out of this event? The reminders to log my swim just make me sad :(

      I do my swims in stages. I do a swim for 1-2 hours before/after work, then on the half hour when I'm down from guarding. This does give me advantage from those of you that have to get yours in all at one time.

      I'm looking at the map. Can't figure out why we didn't take the shortcut north of Stanley Rd. And is that a Strip Mall (Fashion World) I see in the Lazyriver Drive neighborhood? And another question: Is that heart-shaped indentation along Denfield St. the rock quarry everyone keeps talking about? I went to one once, about 20 years ago, but the other person was driving and I have no idea how we got there. I hear some do open swims there.

      The Old Durham Quarry is at Milepost 18.8 in Eno River State Park. It is the 4 acre body of water near Rhodes Creek. Check out http://www.enotrails.com/qu... for more information about how to access it by land. Just keep in mind that it is deep and there are no lifeguards on duty! As for shortcuts.... why take the shorter route, when we can challenge ourselves to go farther? It is so inspiring to check out the map every day! What an awesome job everyone is doing to progress along the river. Keep on swimmin', ya'll!

      My tough math comment was made because we usually add in 1650 yard increments; the 18 lap metric made me have to think, and makes the whole event 41 miles. As with the expression, we shall go the extra mile. John and Deb are approaching my house in a couple days. I am amazed by the pool time from this group. As it turns out I am not even ahead in my workplace building! I may have to visit DAMA just to get in some yardage.

      For anyone that is wondering, there is no set end date to the Challenge, so just keep on swimming! If you think 40 miles is too much, aim for West Point on the Eno Durham City Park (13 miles), The Quarry at Eno River State Park (19 miles), or Occoneechee State Natural Area (34 miles). You may be surprised how far you can go!

    Welcome to The Edison Johnson Aquatic Center's Eno River Challenge.

    Each day, swimmers will submit their laps or lengths converted into miles and track their progress as they virtually swim along the Eno River! Set your sights on the entire 40 mile distance, aim for a stopping point along the way*, or just start swimming and see where you end up!

    Swim anywhere (seriously, anywhere, but we suggest indoors!)
