Saw local Nordic Olympian Kris Freeman poling uphill on his roller skis, and that motivated me to do the last 1.6 miles to make 13.1 running miles late in the day, plus 0.4 mile equivalent of calisthenics and core strengthening. Race you virtually on the MDI Marathon route (and the real one?)!
    • wanderingmaine Oct 1, 2016
is it ok to log bicycle miles on this one? i thought i saw that it was, but now can't find where i thought i saw that! another question...is it correct that i cannot sign up for the marathon virtual race until i've finished this one? do i have to do II also? i hadn't realized there was a II and III. thanks!
      1
Hi Wanda, sure, it's OK to log bicycle miles on this one. Thanks for your interest in the virtual Marathon too! Technically, you are supposed to finish up whichever race you're in the middle of before you can sign up for the virtual Marathon (which is only running, hiking or walking). One way around it, if you're far away from finishing this race (you don't also need to do part II) - use another e-mail and another login - you could call yourself Wanda2, if you'd like. Then you could be doing both races, the virtual Marathon and this Part III. And you could still do Part II later, as either Wanda or Wanda2. Thanks again!

Congratulations to @MADClown for finishing the trifecta! You deserve a medal, as do all Trekkers! If you haven't ordered one yet, you can do so here: acadiaonmymind.com/acadia-o... At least 5 percent of gross proceeds from sale of medals go to help support the park. Not sure if we'll be able to get a Part IV going anytime soon, but you can actually rerun all 3 races if you use a different e-mail and establish a new account. You can call yourself @MADClown2 if you want others to keep track of you. But by using another e-mail, the "My Trek" won't automatically include your mileage in your cumulative totals. The way to work around that is to re-enter the mileage in "My Trek" using your original e-mail. (I'm @AOMM2 in Part I). You can also continue to log your miles on this Part III. While your map avatar won't be moving beyond the Part III finishing line, the mileage gets automatically added to your "My Trek." Thanks for participating!

At least 5 percent of gross proceeds from sale of medals go to help support the park. Not sure if we'll be able to get a Part IV going anytime soon, but you can actually rerun all 3 races if you use a different e-mail and establish a new account. You can call yourself @Yogini2 if you want others to keep track of you. But by using another e-mail, the "My Trek" won't automatically include your mileage in your cumulative totals. The way to work around that is to re-enter the mileage in "My Trek" using your original e-mail. (I'm @AOMM2 in Part I). Thanks for participating!

@Star I think your last miles may have inadvertently been logged on Trek part I (but that's temporarily down and racery.com is working on it). You can e-mail team@racery.com to have those miles show up on the Part III map instead. (But maybe it's better not to let you know this so that I can catch up on the Part III map!)

Please let me know when there is a Trek IV. I am not interested in changing my e-mail address to start again since I want to keep doing the Trek diagonally across the US. Thanks

Will see what we can do. FYI, you can always manually enter the data into "My Trek" under your original e-mail, even if you were to re-do Parts I, II and II with new e-mail. But it is cumbersome.

Hey everyone, say hello to @hc who recently joined Acadia Centennial Trek Part I (you won't see him on this map until he finishes Part I and signs up for Part II and Part III), and thank him for Racery.com and for hosting the Acadia Centennial Trek. He's the CEO, and he wants you to know about new Google Street views that may be popping up during the Trek, based on your day's ending mileage. And if you click on the photo, you can do a 360-degree swivel. A lot of the Trek is on hiking trails and may not have Google Street views. But if you go to the virtual guide we developed for the Acadia Centennial Trek, you can find what Google Street views are available by virtual mile marker, supplemented by our own photos we've taken as part of our Acadia blog and hiking guides: http://acadiaonmymind.com/a...

Since it is now the month of May, anyone running, hiking, biking or otherwise visiting Acadia needs to have a park pass. That goes for Acadia Centennial Trekkers who are doing their miles in the park, but of course not if you're doing them virtually anywhere else in the world! Here's link to park's page on park passes: https://www.nps.gov/acad/pl...
