Hi @LizInTheWoods - looks like we're missing your April 15 data on this virtual race that's already ended, but one trick to keep it going and carry it over to the next virtual race: Go to this free not-yet-ended race, log miles for April 15, and it'll count on your personal log. Then hope you'll join the Amazin' Maine Virtual Race here, to keep that streak going! www.racery.com/r/acadia-next
      2
      Oops, here's the free race to log April 15, @LizInTheWoods - https://buhler-aeroglide.ra...
@AOMM looks like I joined and tried to go to that not-yet-ended race in the wrong order! I registered for Amazin but when I went to go get into the free one I couldn’t since I was already in another. If I have to, starting another streak is ok!

Next race begins April 16, and here's the link to join: www.racery.com/r/acadia-next

It's called the Amazin' Maine Virtual Race, details to come in group email blast tomorrow.

Team #rainbow ahead with 4,031.3 miles to Team #tiedye's 4,005.3, as of this evening. But wait, @Run100 is backed up in logging her miles, and 60 percent of them are going to TieDye. Plus there's a mini-extension on this race to at least April 15, and there may be other virtual racers still to log their miles. Check out the results on the Facebook group page: https://www.facebook.com/gr... And stay tuned for details about the next virtual race, being announced soon! Here's the official team roster for TieDye: @Coastwalker, @TomZot, @Run100, @Trvlngrl, @GeoJill, @montlewis, @LizInTheWoods, @bgizzi, @Katie3Burnham, @BunnyButt, @AOMM, @AnnaKluvzWhales @Mammallamma @OGKatie @Luluphi @ZombieChop and @ADK2ME. And on Rainbow's roster: @MissB, @KDW, @JillMarie63, @sueluv, @Run100 (yes, you can be on both teams), @Paco13, @mak321, @4000footer, @AOMM, @MsAnn @QueenMarsha and the talented @JohnT
@Mammallama - not sure why the tag didn't work above.
    • MsAnn Mar 27, 2020
I just want to apologize to #teamrainbow. I have had a very rough winter dealing with plantar fasciitis. It is finally starting to feel better but not soon enough for me to get our team some miles before this challenge ends 😢 Stay safe and be healthy!!
      1
Oh, your health comes first @MsAnn - hope you continue to improve. There's always the next virtual race, which will be starting right after this one ends, details to be announced soon. Stay safe!
    • Coastwalker Mar 23, 2020
Scoring sez I went 26.2 miles in 2 days, but it was actually 3 days. I didn't check the 100 mi. calculation.
      1
Not sure if racery counter bases it on calendar days or hours between entries, or if it's affected by any backdating of entries? I can try to find out and let you know. For example, does 50 hours between entries count as 2 or 3 days? Those mileage badges only show up if it's a personal record, although not sure if it's per race, or since the beginning of time 👟🥇🏆?

Latest #tiedye vs. #rainbow update just posted to the Facebook group page, https://www.facebook.com/gr.... #tiedye still slightly ahead. Only 18 more days to go before this virtual race ends (and another one begins). Thanks to the following team members: TieDye: @Coastwalker, @TomZot, @Run100, @Trvlngrl, @GeoJill, @montlewis, @LizInTheWoods, @bgizzi, @Katie3Burnham, @BunnyButt, @AOMM, @AnnaKluvzWhales @Mammallama @OGKatie @Luluphi @ZombieChop and @ADK2ME. I’m sorry I haven’t been able to get any miles in. Now that grocery stores are deemed essential I’ve been spending all of my time at work and I’m too tired to work out when I get home. ☹️ I promise that I will try to get some miles in soon if I can.
Hope you are staying safe! And thank you for keeping us all well-stocked. We miss not only your miles, but your motivational messages!
What's the next virtual race and where do we sign up? Making sure I log my runs are now part of my routine! Keeping me motivated!
Will be announcing details of new race soon - don't want any streaks to be broken!
Come on Team Rainbow! I can’t do this without all of your help!
      🌈
Sorry I haven’t really logged many miles. I’m recovering from a nagging foot injury that is driving me crazy!!
Heal fast, and take it easy. There will always be tomorrow!
Go team rainbow! We can do this!
      🌈
Hearing the pleas of @JohnT and @KDW, I just added this comment on FB: "OK Team #Rainbow, in my puny way to help out, my miles will now be split 60% Rainbow, 40% TieDye. Ths is a weak attempt to counteract @Run100's 60-40 mileage split with 60% to TieDye. Tricia Cyr you owe @AOMM, who is still loyal to Gary Allen."

Welcome to #tiedye! Will email you invoice and send you team medal @ADK2ME - and time for me to update the spreadsheet to show the talents of @JohnT who's on #rainbow team. And @KDW your team medal with Crow "tattoo" will also be on the way!
      Looking forward to an update!
Hi @ADK2ME I was looking for you in the #tiedye roster and didn't see you listed. Here's how to add yourself: Go to the upper right hand corner of the top Racery toolbar, choose "my bio" from the drop-down menu under your icon and click on "Edit My Bio." Go to the field for "Groups" and type TieDye (no need to add hashtag, as that will be automatically included). That's it, you've selected your team! I'll be including your miles since Jan. 1 in the team spreadsheet update even if you haven't had a chance to officially join yet, and will be working on your custom medal. Thanks for being part of the #tiedye team!

@CaptDave - racery is working on fixing the glitch in the iPhone app. And @OGKatie got confirmation from racery that racers can be signed up with 2 races at once - so you can do castles in Ireland and the extended Acadia to Katahdin race through April 9, 2020, if you would like. Happy New Year and Decade to you both!

Hi @LizInTheWoods here's how you add #tiedye as your team: In the upper right hand corner of the top toolbar, choose "my bio" from the drop-down menu under your icon and click on "Edit My Bio." Go to the field for "Groups" and type either TieDye or Rainbow (no need to add hashtag, as that will be automatically included). That's it, you've selected your team! And if you'd like to order the optional TieDye medal to help raise more funds for charity, I can email you an invoice. UPDATE 12/30/2019: The virtual race has been extended through the first 100 days of 2020, to 11:59 PM EST April 9, and a new #tiedye vs. #rainbow team challenge begins January 1! If you want to choose a team (Gary Allen of Run MDI is honorary coach of TieDye, as there's been more than one TieDye seen at Burning Man, and Tricia Cyr of Moose Drop In in Millinocket is honorary coach of Rainbow, as it seems more than one rainbow has been seen ending in Millinocket or on Katahdin recently), here is how you do it: In the upper right hand corner of the top toolbar, choose "my bio" from the drop-down menu under your icon and click on "Edit My Bio." Go to the field for "Groups" and type either TieDye or Rainbow (no need to add hashtag, as that will be automatically included). That's it, you've selected your team! And if you want to show your team colors in 2020, you can special order a TieDye or Rainbow virtual race medal ($12 each, shipping included) by tagging @AOMM in the racery message board and specify which medal, and an invoice will be emailed to you. Medal customization options will also be available, depending on how long of a streak you can get going in the first 100 days of 2020! For photo of TieDye and Rainbow medal, featuring the rare blond moose, go to the Facebook group page at www.facebook.com/groups/Aca...

Seems to be a software issue. Tried to enter miles today (12/29/19), but keeps defaulting to 2020 and will not allow me to switch back to 2019. Entered miles using yesterday’s date (that one still works) but definitely some kind of glitch
      6
Hmm, worked this morning for me. Will let racery know, but it may not be addressed until tomorrow. @RaceryKayla
Maybe it was temporary, as some other folks seemed to have logged miles today - worth trying again @CaptDave
Still having same issue here as in MIMom @AOMM
A bit more detail fir you. Issue is in the new app only. Seems I can still enter if I go back into the old app through the browser
@CaptDave - thanks for the detail, am sharing with Racery now.

Does anyone know who is in charge of sending out medals and when those will be sent?
      1
They're in the process of being sent, so you should be getting yours any day now - thanks for being part of the virtual race! (Some of the medals are custom ordered, so pardon the extra time in getting them all out.) Even if folks haven't finished the full virtual race course by Dec. 31, the medals will be received before the end of the year.

I'm bib number 30, and will spread the word to all virtual racers in the real-life race!
And bet if you come to Sawmill tomorrow 5:30 to 7, you may get some human interest, @bbarr

I have two questions. How come I didn’t get a 26 mile badge yesterday when I did 27? Also, how come it shows all my photos as upside down when I upload them? Thanks!
      1
Hi @Mamaof7Dogs - sorry been busy with work and didn't see this until now. I think the way the 26.2 mile badge works: it gets generated if it's a new PR. Might you have done the equivalent of 26.2 in one day in this race previously? But you do earn at least one virtual or real-life star patch, for every 25 miles in one day or 25 days in a row, and I'll be announcing who's in that exclusive club on Facebook this weekend. Also, on photo being upside down, try holding the phone horizontally in the other direction. That is, if you've been holding it horizontally with plug on left side, try the plug on right side next time.

Announcing a new way to earn an extra entry in gift giveaways, inspired by @CorvidRunner who picks up litter while running; @RangerMo @GO4Acadia @linnane and @Luluphi for all they do for Acadia or Friends of Acadia; @KDW for running MDI Half as part of Team Fox; @TomZot @RosaPup @Mamaof7Dogs @CorvidRunner who signed up for the Run2Respond Relay for the Firefighter Five Foundation; and @mak321 who volunteers for the Millinocket Memorial Library (and pardon me if I have forgotten any other virtual racer here who also provides community service): For virtual racers who on Nov. 2 log miles at the same time they are providing service - whether getting Acadia's carriage roads ready for the winter as part of the Friends of Acadia's "Take Pride in Acadia" day, or "plogging" (picking up litter while running or walking) - if you put up a photo of you providing some kind of community service on Nov. 2 while logging miles, you get an extra entry in the gift giveaways! Among the giveaways so far: gift membership to Friends of Acadia, gift cards for LL Bean, Athleta / Gap, Under Armour, a book about Stephen King tour sites, and others to be finalized. You can provide your service anywhere in the world on Nov. 2, whether you're in the UK, Acadia, Colorado or NH. A fun way for virtual racers to give back, and earn an extra entry in the gift giveaway to boot.

Good luck to everyone signed up for the MDI Marathon & Half & Relay: @BigRed68 @FL2ME @MsAnn @BunnyButt @JillMarie63 @Mickel @Mamaof7Dogs @KDW @Bruczilla @Shellperry @Joelle @EmmyRo @smallpox14 @Fossil @Barbidoux @sueluv ! There are enough virtual racers in the real-life MDI, we could be quite the virtual relay team! With 18 virtual racers (including me, and counting @RosaPup who is the pre-race featured speaker) - we'd only have to each do a 1.46 mile leg on Sunday and say we completed a virtual MDI Marathon! I just put on the Facebook group page a post-race meet up at 6 p.m. on Sunday - everyone is welcome, not just real-life MDI runners, but also anyone in this virtual race who is in town then: https://www.facebook.com/gr...
Also featured the virtual racers on the Crow Athletics Facebook group page, here: https://www.facebook.com/ph... - if you dare to self-identify during the race, let us know how you'll do it! I'll be wearing the digital race bib that says @AOMM while I'm running the real-life Half. Good luck everyone! And hope to see some of you at 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Annex next to Sidestreet Cafe, at the official post-race party.
Here at Side Street annex at 6:51 PM for post-race party, if anyone else here - wearing sample medal and @AOMM bib on my back. Great band! And great Sea to Summit beer on draft! Party going until at least 9.

    • AOMM Sept 23, 2019
Just congratulated @EmmyRo @KPS @JohnT and @KDW on the Facebook group page, https://www.facebook.com/gr.... Plus issued a new challenge that everyone can join in on in that same post: Today, the first day of fall, marks 100 more days to the end of the year - can you get a 100-day streak going, or can you do 100 miles in 1 day? If so, you earn the right to a customized lobster-and-moose medal, with option of a lobster, moose, felt bat (for the Stephen King fans among us) or large sequinned star patch added to your medal. And for each 25 days in a row, or 25 miles in 1 day, you can earn a small star patch. For this challenge, only streaks / miles in 1 day between Aug. 2 and Dec. 31 count. $1 for each small star patch, and $5 for lobster, moose, felt bat or large sequinned patch. And if you're currently signed up for the digital-only version of the virtual race, you can add on the 2019 lobster-and-moose medal for $18, plus whatever customization you qualify for as we near the end of the year. The virtual race director will be keeping track of the 25-day / 25 miles in 1 day and 100-day / 100 miles in 1 day on the Facebook group page. We've got a bunch of people already in the 2-star and 1-star club, as we've completed 52 days of this virtual race. Only 100 more days to go!

I'm falling down on my virtual race director duties - belated congratulations to @KPS and @JohnT for finishing the race! Will announce the accomplishment on the Facebook group page and email follow-up. Keep logging those miles for extra entries in giveaway, as each lap means another entry!
      2
Also EmmyRo, who finished 3rd on 9/9!
Yes, have congratulated @EmmyRo and have emailed her about her medal!

Our map is messed up tonight. Half of it is missing, and it is jumping people up to Millinocket. I think we're virtually flying!
      2
No, map is not messed up - you really did "fly" from MDI to Millinocket! New this year, @mak321 , are virtual race segments. You just jumped up to Millinocket, Segment 3, after completing Segment 1 at 55.4 miles, the 26 peaks of Acadia, and Segment 2, the MDI Marathon route, at a cumulative 82 miles. You will go from Millinocket to the first ascent of Katahdin at cumulative mileage of 139.7, before jumping to Segments 4 through 8. Congratulations on completing the 26 peaks of Acadia and the MDI Marathon, virtually! You should have received an email with a special digitial postcard announcing your completing each of those segments.
Thanks, @AOMM. I didn't understand the segments before. I didn't receive an email.

My Racery app has automatically updated itself and now I cannot see the board where everyone’s daily logs and communications show up. So I can’t see or “like” anyone else’s stuff. Is it just me?
      3
hey there! You can get to the Recent Activity feed from your app --just open the Race Map :) All mobile web functionality is identical! Working on another small app update this week too :)
@RaceryKayla. Hey thanks! I found it with your direction. :)
      Thanks for helping out @SlowCrawl , @RaceryKayla !

This might be a silly question, but do miles that aren’t done as a hike or a walk/run outside count? My goal is obviously to use this race to set some boundaries with work and leave in time to get outside and run or walk, but I do happen to work in a pretty active environment. I work in a retail store, so I’m often up and down stairs, doing laps around the store, or moving to unload pallets of product.... in an 8-12 hour day I’ve hit upwards of 10 miles before. Since I’m a manager, my phone is almost always on me so my apps are tracking my movement throughout the day, and I can get a pretty good idea of how far I’ve gone. I was just wondering what others thoughts are with regards to whether this counts. My goal is to be outside and enjoying nature, but I’m still doing a lot of moving during the day. Part of me feels like counting it is like “cheating” because it goes against why I signed up, but I also realize I’m human and doing miles after doing miles can sometimes be too much. If anyone has feedback or clarification that would be great. Thanks!
      2
Following! I am in retail as well and can also log a lot of miles on a busy day!
Hi @OGKatie, sorry didn't see this until now - do what you think is fair, but perhaps this activity conversion factor that Racery has available for step-counting, to translate routine steps while around the house or at work, into miles in nature or on a treadmill, can come in handy: 1 step = .00047 mile, so that 10,000 steps = 4.7 miles. But if you feel that that is too generous a conversion, perhaps you can reduce the mileage by half. It wouldn't be fair to win a virtual race by using steps or routine walking. Plus it may defeat the purpose of your trying to be outside and enjoying nature more, if you count routine walking at work or around the house.

Congratulations to @JeanB for being the first to finish the 2019 Acadia to Katahdin Virtual Race! Mentioned you as well as @CorvidRunner - who's not too far behind - in the Facebook group page: https://www.facebook.com/gr... Will be emailing you on your medals, and you can continue logging miles through Dec. 31 to earn extra entries in giveaways and special lobster, moose, star or bat patches (details to be announced). Congratulations again, and thanks for being part of the virtual race. Good luck on the real-life races!

The last two posts that I included pictures in have shown up upside down. Is that a bug @RaceryHenry
      2
Hi, I don't believe so -- might have to do with phone/image settings. Can you send me an email to kayla@racery.com with information on how you posted the images (and the images themselves?) I'll test :)
Thanks for the question @JohnT and the assistance @RaceryKayla ! Not sure if this applies in this case, but I have noticed personally that on my phone, I always have to have the "plug" end of the phone on the right for the horizontal to show up right-side up, if I took photo by phone and am uploading via phone. Otherwise, if I've emailed photo to laptop to upload, I am then able to rotate the photo on the laptop so it's right side up for racery. And there's that feature now to delete posts in the drop-down menu in upper-right hand corner of a racery entry, so that it can be re-entered with photo in right direction.

In the last blog post about the virtual race, these virtual racers were mentioned: @MegOMoose @MuddyMom @SlowCrawl @BunnyButt and @TheOtherButt - all because of your fun names. Here's a link to the post: https://acadiaonmymind.com/... It was also republished on the Bangor Daily News website, but as MegoMoose was too long for the headline, @mustang was highlighted instead: http://acadiaonmymind.bango...

OK everyone, those of you who have family members in this virtual race, or who invite a family member, get an extra entry for the giveaways (everyone automatically gets an entry upon first signing up). Family members I know of already: @mak321 and @TD17 and @applebreeeze ; @Mickel and @MsAnn ; @RangerMo and @GO4Acadia ; and @BunnyButt and @TheOtherButt . If I'm missing anyone, or if you invite a family member to join, be sure to tag @AOMM in message board here and let me know. Will be announcing some of the giveaways soon, both here and on the Facebook group page. The family that virtual races together...has more fun!
      Mimom is my wife!
      @AOMM mimom is my wife
Welcome to @MIMom - you and @CaptDave now officially have an extra entry each into the giveaway.
We can add @GeoJill and @runawayjim to the family members getting extra entries in the giveaways in this virtual race, now that the virtual race director knows how they are related! (Everyone automatically gets an entry upon registering for the race, and if you have family members in the race or invite family members, the family perk is extra entry each - but there will be an announcement soon of how others who don't have family in the race can also have chance for extra entries.)
EmRo is my daughter and Ando is my son!
@Bryantbunch - a family that virtually runs together...gets extra entries in giveaway! Will be finalizing giveaways soon, and will let everyone know.
Lisa Reibel is my cousin! I showed her the post on FB and asked if she wanted to do this virtual race. She was so excited she signed up before saying yes!
Thanks for letting me know of the family relationship @MuddyMom! You and @Mammallama (formerly known as LReibel, I believe) now each have an extra entry in the gift giveaway. Working on finalizing the gift list and will share with everyone when done, and also how virtual racers can score extra entry even if no family members in the race.

OK fellow virtual racers, in case you'd like to guess the first "Where in Acadia?" red pindrop, I just put the pop-up photo and answer on the Facebook group page: https://www.facebook.com/gr... Check it out, @CaptDave @AmZ and @27Rings . You can click on the red pindrops even if you aren't close to them on the map yet, to see what customized photo pops up. Or you can wait until you get close for a little extra motivation, knowing the view you'll be getting.

Is there some way to take a stab at the “where in Acadia” questions along the way?
      3
Sure. Probably best way is for me to post them up on Facebook group pages as we go along, and people can guess there. Alternatively, you can make your guess in racery log, but it's hard to match up your guess to the photo unless you upload copy of photo to your racery log entry. The pin drops are new, so pardon the working out of new system. Thanks @CaptDave for the question!
@AOMM. Cool! I wasn’t criticizing, just curious. Pins are a great idea
Thanks to racery for the pins - it is a great idea! Nope didn't take it as criticism. About to post on this messageboard the first "Where in Acadia?" and will tag you.

UPDATE 12/30/2019: The virtual race has been extended through the first 100 days of 2020, to 11:59 PM EST April 9, and a new #TieDye vs. #Rainbow team challenge begins January 1!

If you're already in the race and want to choose a team (Gary Allen of Run MDI is honorary coach of TieDye, as there's been more than one TieDye seen at Burning Man, and Tricia Cyr of Moose Drop In in Millinocket is honorary coach of Rainbow, as it seems more than one rainbow has been seen ending in Millinocket or on Katahdin recently), here is how you do it:

In the upper right hand corner of the top toolbar, choose "my bio" from the drop-down menu under your icon and click on "Edit My Bio." Go to the field for "Groups" and type either TieDye or Rainbow (no need to add hashtag, as that will be automatically included).

If you are new to the race, click on "Join Now!" above, and you have the option of adding one of the existing medals listed on the registration page, or you can special order a TieDye or Rainbow virtual race medal ($12 each, shipping included) by tagging @AOMM in the racery message board and specify which medal, and an invoice will be emailed to you.

You can backdate miles to Aug. 2, 2019, but only 2020 miles will count toward the TieDye vs. Rainbow virtual team challenge. See instructions above for how to declare your team.

For a photo of the TieDye and Rainbow team medals see the Facebook group page, www.facebook.com/groups/AcadiaToKatahdin. The Facebook group page is also where announcements of medal customization options and other virtual race news will be shared.

At least 5% of gross proceeds from the virtual race go to help benefit charities in the Acadia and Katahdin region. Let's leap into 2020 and the new decade by virtually racing together to help Maine charities, no matter where in the world we may be logging our running, hiking or walking miles!

    END 12/30/2019 UPDATE

Help raise funds for Acadia National Park and Millinocket, the gateway to Baxter State Park and Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, by participating in the 2019 virtual edition of the Maine Sea to Summit series. Earn a medal (or two or more) at the same time!

Start by virtually climbing all 26 peaks of Acadia, move on to virtually run the Mount Desert Island Marathon and Half, then head north to virtually run the Millinocket Marathon and Half and climb Katahdin, Maine's highest mountain.

The virtual tour continues as you head next to Acadia's spectacular Park Loop Road and the Schoodic National Scenic Byway. Then virtually visit some of the sites associated with Stephen King, from Acadia's Deer Brook Trail and sites in Ellsworth that were featured in the movie "Pet Sematary," to the King of Horror's home and his radio station in Bangor.

The final virtual segment takes you to Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, followed by one more ascent of Mount Katahdin.

Wherever you are in the world, you can participate virtually by running or walking and logging your miles. Watch your avatar move along on a map from Acadia to Katahdin, jumping from segment to segment.

You have until December 31 to complete the 8 segments. To ensure you cross the finish line and to take into account any mileage rounding issues, be sure to log a few extra tenths of a mile. And if you opted in for special finisher's medal(s), they will be mailed beginning in mid-October, upon your completion. Everyone is a winner, with final medals mailed soon after December 31, whether you completed the 8 segments by then or not.

NEW BEGINNING WITH THIS RACE: Mileage from this race and future races will count toward cumulative totals, allowing you to reach special milestones and recognition. Details to be announced at acadiaonmymind.com/virtual-races

Special pricing for registrants in the real-life 2019 MDI and Millinocket Marathon and Half Marathon. We will cross reference the real-life entrants' list and if runners don't appear then the virtual fee will be forfeited.

At least 5% of gross proceeds from the race go to help support Acadia National Park via the nonprofit Friends of Acadia, and Millinocket via the nonprofit Our Katahdin and Millinocket Memorial Library. Brought to you by acadiaonmymind.com and runmdi.org.

We've got racers all over the globe! To keep everyone on the same page, we've come up with some handy guidelines:
    • We rely on the honor system... you don't have to use a device to prove your miles -- a good map suffices.

    • Please only backdate mileage to August 2.

    • No step counting, please use intentional miles.

    • Only walking or running miles please! (NOTE: miles on a racer’s personal log are for all races they are in, over all sports)

    • Please attribute your mileage to the appropriate day -- don’t combine mileage from multiple days.

    • Miles submitted after the race ends will not count toward race leaderboards.
