    So today I was at a job site at 86th and Broadway in Manhattan. I needed to be at an event around 1:30 at One World Trade Center and decided to walk it. I had one meeting but I was just going to listen anyway. I ended up pretty much doing a road march, but in my dress shoes (ouch!), with my work backpack and a trench coat LOL! It was also a little cold and somewhat damp but I sucked it up and made the decision and headed out. I “road marched” along the Hudson and ended taking dozens of photos of interesting buildings, landscapes and attractions along the way. It was well worth it!

    Ran the Northern Loop starting at Fort Totten, Queens, NY. It was lightly raining when I started and luckily for me stopped during my run. Walked a bit after to stretch out. Overall a nice run and a great way to reflect on all of the female soldiers that I worked with throughout my 20.5 years in the Army and Army Reserve. From Ft Sill, OK (no female trainees) to Ft Devens, MA to Camp Humphreys in South Korea to Fort Benning, GA and Fort Bragg, NC and all of the posts after including Fort Knox, nothing but honor and respect to them all! Special shout out to ErikaJean McNeil, a marine veteran at JLL, more hardcore than 99% of the soldiers I worked with in my military career! Also to my oldest daughter who is doing this challenge remotely at Stony Brook…I miss running with you!

    I know I did more than this but this is what Strava logged so I'll use this. Went solo again today. Sam found out she sprained AND strained her right foot in two different spots from earlier last week. It was a beautiful day for a run. There were a lot of hills though. Glad to finish and definitely happy with the results. I actually lost about 6 lbs and expect to continue running to some degree. - Alley Pond Park, Union Turnpike, Oakland Gardens, NY, USA

    It was a pretty cloudy morning today, with rain in the forecast. I decided to go solo again since Samantha worked late last night. Just wanted to run a few miles before the rain came. I logged a couple of miles, nothing too heavy. Hoping to get some more miles tomorrow although Alpha has finished. As we come to a close to the challenge, I was running and thinking about the 174 women who were killed since 9/11, especially the 10 that I had the honor of remembering by saying their names during the Circle of Remembrance. So to honor them, I wanted to continue this particular chat by dedicating today's run to them and adding a few words about some of them, and will continue through Tuesday... - Cross Island Parkway & Totten Road, Queens, NY, USA

    Samantha and I went biking today instead of running/walking at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. It was a gorgeous day and we ran into two fellow JLL'ers Claudeen and Sharon. It was a nice steady ride and we hit all the major areas in the park. We each put in an hour of moderate biking...would've gone further but Sam had to work! - Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Unisphere, Corona, NY, USA

    When I was a Reserve Drill Sergeant Leader at the DS Academy, I worked with DSL Janet Baldridge, an incredible NCO and one of the best I ever worked with, and also one of my favorites. She was no nonsense, tough, spirited, a subject matter expert and a great motivator. She was perfect for her position. She never BS'd you and told you like it is, good or bad. Her passion for the military was infectious. She was highly respected amongst the DSL cadre and you could also see the respect from the DS candidates, male and female. I still remember her distinctive twang LOL! So today's ride is for you Janet...Drill Sergeants Lead the Way!

    Had to go solo today since my daughter had to work. Started late again because of work and decided to run around Flushing Bay. The run was right across from my favorite stadium, Citifield, home of the NY Mets. Hoping to get some games in this year since they're open at 20% capacity. Started out warm but cooled off. Had to fight headwinds going west but it was at my back going east. Watched the sunset while I was running, which was nice. Reminded me of early morning battalion, brigade and post runs while I was stationed in South Korea at Camp Humphreys. Nothing like hundreds of soldiers singing at the top of their lungs running through post and into the local "ville" at 5am in the morning. Hooooaaah! - Flushing Bay Promenade, Flushing, NY, USA

    @DSHo Thank you for sharing!
    By the way, I wanted to dedicate this to my first First Sergeant while I was stationed in South Korea, wherever she may be. While I would have to dig up her name from the dredges of my memory (I was a PFC and always addressed her as First Sergeant! It wasn't until a few months in that I started calling her Top), her face is clear as day to me. She was black and had a very strong presence about her. She was all of 5'-0 nothing and skinny as a stick but she could run you into the ground and when she sang cadence! Wow! We all looked up to her as she was such a strong role model. If I had the presence of mind to pay attention back then, I would've checked if she had a drill sergeant badge. I would not be surprised now, knowing what I know. So this one's for you Top! You taught me much about being a soldier and I was lucky to have you as my first First Sergeant. I'm forever grateful!

    Boo! Raining in NYC late afternoon today, so I ended up running and walking on my treadmill. While I subscribe to the Army training philosophy of "if it ain't raining, it ain't training", I'm a civilian now and actually have a choice 😂! Ran 3 and walked 1. I'm still smoked from yesterday!

    I still subscribe to the "if it ain't raining" philosophy Mike, I just finished another 6 miles today and 6 planned for tomorrow. Semper Fi, stay strong Team Alpha!
    @AlphaDan Outstanding! Hooooaaah! Brings back memories of battalion runs through pouring rain, sleeping in the mud and refilling generators to keep heaters going through freezing rain. I can almost smell the sizzle!
