Instagram unlocks lots of powerful images and metaphors. Recently, a couple of images there really resonated with things I’ve been thinking about relative to how Racery creates new features.
The first image is a reminder about the importance of saying no. We’re all rushing forward to certainty and completion, and ‘perfecting’ something satisfies both those urges. But we need to save our energy for perfecting the right things. Otherwise, we’ll never have enough energy left to FIND the right things.
And the next image reminds us that everyone sees something different in a situation. It’s really a variation on the old ‘five blind men describe an elephant’ tale. Running a company (or part of a company) is about trying to consolidate our many visions so we capture and integrate as many of those visions as possible.
Perhaps the most important startup equation? (Constant improvement trumps all)
