This morning I ran for Army SPC Lori Piestewa of Tuba City, AZ who the Wear Blue: Run to Remember’s inaugural challenge is named for. SPC Piestewa was the first female American Indian service member killed in combat on foreign soil, as well as the first female service member killed in Iraq. Alger of New Auburn, WI. 2LT Alger died on November 1, 2007 of wounds sustained when an IED detonated near her vehicle in Shubayshen, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
