You just started a virtual race! What next?
Here’s a simple list to help you set up your race for success. If you want to market and manage your race, I highly suggest these articles [HOW TO MARKET A VIRTUAL RACE] [HOW TO ORGANIZE A VIRTUAL RACE] from our archive. And please check out our sponsor and racer FAQs!
Race Details
The race details contain all the management details for the race (start time, race url, entry fee, and more.) You should scan this page, and fill out as much as possible before the race starts.
Eventpage Dashboards
The race will bring people straight to the “map” (where avatars move, recent activity feeds populate, and pindrops show up!). But if you want to personalize the experience, you can customize a page (just add a few images or use a fully customized HTML page) for your organization. This page is only shown to unregistered racers before the race starts! Read instructions at the bottom of this dashboard to use the snippets (you definitely need a {{signup_form}})
Fundraising page dashboard
Fundraising pages are the same as eventpages, in that they are your page to configure! If enabled (checkbox at the top of the page), all fundraising links will get forwarded to this page, and donations are directed to the racer who shares their link. Use the instructions at the bottom of this page, if you want the page to be personalized for each racer!
Route management
Edit your route! We recommend roughly 2.5 miles per day per participant. So if you’re using teams, envelope math can help you estimate a route. For teams of size 6 on a 30-day route: 2.5 X 6 X 31 = 465. So adding addresses to create a 465 mile route will maximize engagement so teams can either just about reach the finish line, loop the route, or compete to get to the finish line first! You can adjust, depending on your activity conversions (only cycling or Racery’s full range of activity conversions? Or ONLY custom activity conversions like reading and a full night’s sleep?!) and the competitiveness of your organization!
Announcement emails
Among various options to create content on Racery (digital postcards and pin-drops, to name a few), announcement emails are the most direct way to contact your racers (apart from the race chat!). You can program emails to send out at a specific time, and click the send icon to test to your inbox with this icon:

Don’t forget to highlight fundraising links! (Instructions at the bottom of the “edit announcement email” page!)
Finishing up?
That quick review of dashboards will help you maximize success! Of course, there are always more ways to engage (custom email templates, fundraising announcements, photo like competitions, mental health day initiatives, team competitions, quizzes for racers, challenges, streak competitions… and more!) so reach out to team@racery.com if you have any questions!
